Harry Potter: Magic at Play, a magical touring experience, is set to debut at Chicago’s Water Tower Place on 11 November 2022. Tickets go on sale on 3 August.
Created by Superfly X and Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment, Harry Potter: Magic at Play will offer 30,000 square feet of interactive activities, including games, exploration and sensory attractions.
Peter van Roden, senior vice president at Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment, said the attraction brings the Wizarding World to fans in a “hands-on and tactile way that gives all ages but especially our younger guests the ability to experience and play”.
“From the moment guests arrive, they are immersed in Harry’s story and are an active participant in their own journey through innovative play, experiential sets, games and more,” he added.
According to a news release, the journey starts at 4 Privet Drive. Guests can explore the Dursley family’s living room before sailing across the Great Lake to Hogwarts.
Magical hands-on attraction
They can attend some of the school’s popular classes, mastering ‘Wingardium Leviosa’ and levitating a feather, exploring the potions dungeon and taking on a swarm of Cornish Pixies.
Visitors will also play in Hagrid’s pumpkin patch and scout the Forbidden Forest. Additionally, a retail outlet will sell bespoke and licensed items, as well as themed F&B.
“Over the last few years, Chicago has proven to be the perfect city to debut Superfly X experiences and with Harry Potter: Magic at Play we invite Wizarding World fans to experience the franchise in an all-new, playful way,” said Stacy Moscatelli, co-president and chief strategy officer at Superfly X.
“Whether they are longtime fans of the Wizarding World, or young fans experiencing this incredible world for the very first time, guests will be able to enjoy a Harry Potter activity filled adventure all their own, as they celebrate Harry’s journey to Hogwarts.”
The Wizarding World lends its IP to various LBE experiences. These include themed lands at Universal theme parks, as well as Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter and Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo.
