The Swedish Royal Family had a busy Tuesday as the entire family attended the first day of Parliament at the Riksdag.
King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine, and Christopher O’Neill were all in attendance on Tuesday.

The family first attended a religious service at Stockholm Cathedral; the service was also attended by the Speaker of the Riksdag and many members of Parliament.

The King and Queen of Sweden then led the family to the Riksdag.

King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, and Prince Daniel travelled in a horse-drawn carriage to follow tradition.

The ceremonial opening of the Riksdag began with the Kungssången (the king’s song) being sung before King Carl Gustaf gave his speech to open parliament.

He finished his speech with a reminder of the importance of the elected body, ”what you decide in this chamber will affect the Swedish people for many years to come. My hope and conviction is that you have respectful debates, that you listen to each other, and that you make the best decisions for Sweden.”

The King of Sweden officially declared the 2024/25 legislative year open and the national anthem was played.
The Swedish Royal Family finished their day by attending the Royal Swedish Opera’s performance at the Royal Palace.
