The Swedish Royal Family announced the Engagement of Princess Désirée of Sweden, daughter of Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden, Duke of Västerbotten and Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha,and Baron Niclas Silfverschiöld at the Royal Palace of Stockholm on this day in 1963, 60 years ago.
Princess Désirée and Baron Nicolas were joined by Princess Sibylla, Prince Carl Gustaf and Princess Margaretha.
Princess Désirée and Baron Nicolas Silfverschiöld also posed for a series of portraits at his residences, Castle Koberg and Gasevadholm Castle, ahead of the New Year.
The couple married at the Storkyrkan in Stockholm in June 1964, following a Wedding Ball at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.
