There are many spectacular Royal and Noble Jewels on Auction in this month, and next week, an Edwardian Peridot and Diamond Tiara, which belonged to the late 8th Duchess of Atholl and was sold off by the 10th Duke of Atholl in 1985, is going on Auction at Doyle in New York City!
A spectacular Peridot and Diamond Tiara set with five cut-cornered rectangular-cut peridots alongside old-mine cut diamonds, small old-mine and rose-cut diamonds, with the main section detachable as individual sections, with fittings for tiara and necklace, circa 1890. The Tiara rests in a box signed Collingwood (Jewellers) Ltd. to the Royal Family 446 Conduit St. W.
While the exact origin of the Tiara is unknown, in 1952, the Peridot and Diamond Tiara was worn as a Necklace by the 8th Duchess of Atholl for the Royal Caledonian Ball in London.
While Diamond Tiara and Necklace were worn by Sarah Troughton, half-sister of the 10th Duke, for her Wedding in the 1970s, the Peridot and Diamond Tiara was sold from collection of Ian Murray, the 10th Duke of Atholl and Blair Castle at Christie’s in London in 1985.
The Peridot and Diamond Tiara is now going on Auction at Doyle in New York City on June 13, as the property of a Private Palm Beach Collection, with an Auction Estimate of $6,000 – $8,000.
