Following their State Visit to Sweden and State Visit to Norway, the new King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark are embarking on an extensive Tour of Greenland on the Royal Yacht Dannebrog, their first after the Accession of King Frederik X in January upon the Abdication of Queen Margrethe II.
The visit begins in North Greenland with an arrival at Pituffik Space Base and a visit to Qaanaaq, after which the trip goes to Aasiaat in West Greenland, where the royal couple board the royal ship Dannebrog. In West Greenland, Their Majesties will visit Qeqertarsuaq, Attu and Sisimiut, among others.
Subsequently, the royal couple sail with the royal ship Dannebrog to Nuuk. The last part of the visit takes place in South Greenland with visits to Narsarsuaq, Igaliku, Narsaq and Qassiarsuk, among others.

Saturday 29 June
Arrival at Pituffik Space Base
The royal couple arrives at Pituffik Space Base, where Their Majesties are received by chairman of Naalakkersuisut Múte Bourup Egede, national ombudsman Julie Prest Wilche, head of department Hans-Peder Barlach Christensen and head of protocol Jakob Rohmann Hard.
Reception in Qaanaaq
The royal couple arrives at Qaanaaq in North Greenland, where the royal couple is received at the airport by mayor Palle Jeremiassen and members of the municipal council.
Qaanaaq is Greenland’s northernmost city, where the King launched and ended the Sirius 2000 expedition in 2000.
Reception at the Town Hall in Qaanaaq
The royal couple arrive at the Town Hall in Qaanaaq, where the municipality is hosting a reception for invited guests.
Kaffemik in the sports hall in Qaanaaq
The royal couple participates in a coffee meeting in the sports hall in Qaanaaq, where there will be a number of musical and cultural performances by the city’s citizens.
Arrival
The royal couple arrives in Aasiaat, where Mayor Ane Hansen and members of the municipal council receive Their Majesties at the airport.
Aasiaat is located in the southwest corner of Disko Bay on Greenland’s west coast and is Greenland’s fifth largest city.
Reception at Aasiaat Museum and Niels Egedes Plads
The royal couple will be received by a cannon salute and choral singing at the Aasiaat Museum, after which the King and Queen will stroll to Niels Egedes Plads, where there will be entertainment with music and dance.

Boat trip with Arctic Station
The royal couple take part in a boat trip at Qeqertarsuaq, where Their Majesties are briefed on the Arctic Station’s work and inaugurate a new whale microphone. Qeqertarsuaq is home to the research station Arctic Station, which is run by the University of Copenhagen and aims to promote scientific Arctic research. The new audio station gives insight into the presence of marine mammals in Disko Bay.
Reception at the King’s Bridge in Qeqertarsuaq
The royal couple arrives with the royal ship Dannebrog at the Kongebroen in Qeqertarsuaq, where the royal couple is received by mayor Ane Hansen and members of the municipal council. Qeqertarsuaq is located on the south side of the island of Qeqertarsuaq, which is Greenland’s largest island.

The royal couple attends a reception at Hotel Qeqertarsuaq hosted by the municipality.
Orientation about the Inoqatikka project in Qeqertarsuaq
The royal couple participate in a briefing on the Inoqatikka project, which is a mentalization training for civil servants who work with children in the municipality.
Start of the Qeqertarsuaq Race, Family Mile
The royal couple arrive in the town center of Qeqertarsuaq, where the King starts the Qeqertarsuaq Race, Family Mile. The race is for all island residents.
Monday 1 July
Arrival at Attu
The Royal Couple arrives with the Royal Ship Dannebrog at Attu, where Mayor Ane Hansen and members of the municipal council receive the Royal Couple.
Attu is located on a smaller island of the same name in the municipality of Qeqertalik.
Visit to Attu
The royal couple will be shown around Attu and will, among other things, visit the settlement’s church, school and kindergarten. Along the way, the King will unveil a memorial for Attu’s 200th anniversary.
Kaffemik in Attu
The royal couple will take part in a coffee meeting in Attu, where there will be a hymn choir and a performance by arctic sports practitioners.
Tuesday, July 2
Arrival in Sisimiut
The royal couple arrive with the Royal Ship Dannebrog in Sisimiut, where Mayor Malik Berthelsen and members of the municipal council receive Their Majesties. There will be a qajaq presentation in connection with the arrival.
Sisimiut is Greenland’s second largest city with almost 5,500 inhabitants.
Visit to the Sisimiut Museum
The royal couple will visit the Sisimiut Museum, where there will be a presentation on the Aasivissuit-Nipisat world heritage site.
The World Sea Area was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2018. The area consists of the two main sites of Aasivissuit and Nipisat, which tell a story spanning 4,200 years. In Aasivissuit – Nipisat you can meet Inuit winter houses, reindeer hunting areas and ruins from the colonial era, among other things.
Visit to the Hundebyen
The King visits the Dog Village in Sisimiut, where His Majesty is introduced to the company Milak Production. The company has created a sustainable, local production of dog food.
Presentation of ATV tracks
The King is presented with the upcoming ATV trail between Sisimiut and Kangerlussuaq by Mayor Malik Berthelsen.
Visit to the Handicap Center Pissassarfik in Sisimiut
The Queen visits Greenland’s national disability center Pissassarfik. Pissassarfik offers professional guidance, advice and training in relation to physical, psychological, speech-language and cognitive disabilities.
Reception at Kulturhuset Taseralik
The royal couple attends a reception in the Kulturhuset Taseralik in Sisimiut hosted by the municipality. The cultural center Taseralik, which was inaugurated in 2008, contains, among other things, a theater hall, music school, cinema and exhibition facilities.
Visit and tour of Sisimiut
The royal couple will be shown around Sisimut and will, among other things, visit the so-called love trail that goes around the town’s lake, and be presented with the town’s new swimming pool project. In addition, the King initiates a family run, which is organized by the local cross-country club.
Visit to KTI Tech College Greenland
The royal couple visit KTI Tech College Greenland in Sisimiut and take part in a tour of the school.
The school focuses on educational opportunities within, among other things, construction, raw materials, iron and metal, and upper secondary education. In addition, KTI collaborates with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) on the operation of the Center for Arctic Technology, including the Arctic engineering education, which is targeted at work under extreme climatic conditions.

The royal couple participate in the official reception in the city council chamber at the City Hall in Nuuk by mayor Avaaraq Olsen, the municipal council and the executive board.
Tour of Nuuk’s new school
The royal couple participate in a tour of Nuuk’s new school Atuarfik Inussuk, where there will be a performance by the school’s music students, among other things.
Lunch with Naalakkersuisut and the presidency of Inatsisartut
The royal couple attends lunch at Hans Egede’s House hosted by Naalakkersuisut and the Presidency of Inatsisartut.
Visit to Nuuk’s new airport
The royal couple will participate in a visit and tour of Nuuk’s new airport, where there will be a presentation from the municipality on the new capital strategy, among other things.
Visit to the workshop
The royal couple visit a workshop in Nuuk, where they are working on a memorial stone for the polar explorer Arnarulunnguaq. As the only female polar explorer, she took part in the famous 5th Thule expedition in the period from 1921 to 1924.

The King participates in a visit to the school Nuussuup Atuarfia in Nuuk, where the King meets school students who have participated in projects and competitions with the Foundation for Entrepreneurship, Kalaallit Nunaat.

The Queen visits the new day care center Naasut in Nuuk, where the Mary Foundation’s anti-bullying program “Free from bullying/Kammagiitta” is being worked on.

Saturday 6 July
Arrival at Narsaq
The royal couple arrives in Narsaq, where mayor Stine Egede and members of the municipal council receive the royal couple. The King then plants a tree at the administration building.
Narsaq is surrounded by the fjords Tunulliarfik and Ikersuaq, and the area has been home to Inuit and Norse people.
Visit to Narsaq Sports Hall
The royal couple meet the city’s sports clubs in the sports hall and on the football field.
Lunch reception
The royal couple attends a lunch reception in Narsaq for municipal council members and the local business community.
Visit to Qassiarsuk
The royal couple arrives in Qassiarsuk, where municipal council member Piitaq Lund receives the royal couple. The royal couple are then shown around the village, followed by coffee with the townspeople.
Qassiarsuk has 65 inhabitants and is located opposite Narsarsuaq on the opposite side of the Tunulliarfik fjord.
