Denmark’s Prince Christian, aged 17, gets his first driving licence – Royal Central

Keld Navntoft, Kongehuset

Getting your first driver’s license is a big milestone in everyone’s life. Now the Danish press has confirmed that the country’s future king, Prince Christian, has passed the tests and received his first driver’s license.

The Danish magazine “Her og Nu” received confirmation from the communications staff in the Danish royal court. In a statement to the magazine, the royal court said: “We can confirm that Prince Christian has obtained his driver’s license”.

According to Danish law, however, the Prince will not be able to drive a car alone for some time.

Rules in Denmark state that only those aged 18 and over can drive without supervision. Prince Christian’s new licence allows him to drive if he has someone over the age of 30 with him. That person must also have held a valid licence for at least ten years. In other words, the prince can now ask both his father and mother to accompany him if he wants to drive a car.

However, it will not be long before the Prince will be able to drive completely alone. It is less than three months until the Prince turns 18. He is then of legal age according to Danish law and will be able to drive alone.
