Crown Princess Victoria started the work week with a new job: special officer training.
The Swedish Royal Court announced that the future queen is undergoing special officer training with at the Swedish Defence University and that she currently has the rank of Cadet.
In a statement, Crown Princess Victoria said: “With great anticipation, I continue my military education at the Swedish Defence University today. Together with the other cadets, I will, among other things, immerse myself in tactics, military science and military strategy.
“My ambition is now to put all my energy into officer training in order to be able to represent Sweden and the Armed Forces in the best possible way in the future.
“I look forward to an interesting and rewarding study time together with my new coursemates!”
The Swedish Royal Court shared that Crown Princess Victoria will “further deepen her commitment within the Armed Forces and… be given a deeper understanding of tactics, military science and military strategy.”
Crown Princess Victoria’s training is both theoretical and practical; the special officer training is for those who already have academic degrees and takes place both in the classroom and with practical training provided by Armed Forces units.
According to the Swedish Defence University website, special officer training is four parts: war science, leadership, officer in the military profession, and professional training.
In 2003, Crown Princess Victoria underwent basic military training at the Swedish Armed Forces International Centre. She enrolled in special officer training earlier this year, fresh off of Sweden’s admittance into NATO.
