Crown Prince Christian has played host as his family came to visit his barracks for the first time.
The Danish royals shared photos of the future king greeting his family and giving them a tour of his barracks in Slagelse. Crown Prince Christian arrived a month ago in Slagelse for training with the Gardehusarregimentet (the Guard Hussar Regiment).
In the photos, Crown Prince Christian is shown letting his siblings try on his helmet; hugging his father, King Frederik; standing alongside his mother, Queen Mary; and showing them all around the barracks before joining in formations.
“The company’s families were today invited to a visit day at the barracks,” the royals shared on social media. “The Royal Family had the opportunity to experience the Crown Prince in his new surroundings and meet the rest of his fellow recruits.”
The Crown Prince is currently a conscript in basic training, which will last four months. As he arrived for training back in February, the royals revealed that the future king will not draw a salary like civilian soldiers do.
The Gardehusarregimentet is the oldest army regiment in Denmark, dating back to 1614. The Crown Prince follows in his father’s footsteps with his choice of military service: King Frederik once served as a platoon commander with the Gardehusarregimentet in Slagelse, according to the Court.
