Coronation Bank Holiday weather forecast revealed by Met Office as street parties planned across UK

THE Met Office has forecast what the weather is going to be like for the coronation bank holiday as street parties  are planned all over the UK.

Brits can look forward to “dry and mild weather” over the long weekend, the forecaster has said.

King Charles’ coronation is less than two weeks away, with street parties planned across the nation.

For those looking to be outside over the long weekend, Met Office press officer Grahame Madge said that they can expect “fairly settled conditions”.

“The remaining period, which is really the period I think that we’re focusing on, brings fairly settled conditions, pushing in from the southwest with plenty of dry and mild weather across the UK,” he said.

“Temperatures (will be) generally near or slightly above average, with maximums expected in the high teens in the south of England.”

However, he warned that it was difficult to give a precise forecast this far in advance.

“That is a very generic forecast for the UK,” he said.

He added that some areas of the UK will be cooler than others.

“Above average temperatures is a reference to UK as a whole,” he said.

“That doesn’t exclude the possibility of some areas being warmer or cooler, because obviously there are many parts that make up the average.”

Before the festivities get underway though, Brits will have to put up with some light rain and showers over the next few days, according to the Met Office.

Tonight, wintry shower will continue across north-east Scotland while elsewhere it will remain dry in most parts with broken cloud and some clear spells, especially in the north.

Northern Scotland can expect a sharp frost.

Conditions will be milder in the south-west which will see some light rain and drizzle.

As Wednesday gets underway for most, it will be dull and damp in the south-west.

North east Scotland will see more wintry showers while southern Scotland and northern England will also get a few showers.

Elsewhere, it will be dry but chilly day.

Looking further ahead, cloud will increase from the west on Thursday with rain also arriving from the south.

Scotland will also see some rain and possibly some snow in higher areas.

The rain is expected to largely clear on Friday with conditions becoming warmer with the possibility of the odd shower at times.
