The Princess of Wales was in Wales for two engagements, including introducing an important new role.

The Princess of Wales visited Tŷ Hafan, a children’s hospice in Wales. Kensington Palace shared that Her Royal Highness has officially been named as Patron of the hospice.

She took over from The King, who took on the patronage since 2001. Previously, the role belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales.

Chief Executive Irfon Rees shared the organisation’s excitement about their new patron, saying ”as our patron, Her Royal Highness will be an inspiration for children with life-shortening conditions and their families, our dedicated staff and volunteers and everyone who so generously supports us.”

Catherine also visited Corgi Socks at their factory in Ammanford in Wales. The luxury knitwear company was originally granted a royal warrant in 1989 when King Charles first gave one, and it was recently announced that The King has granted another warrant.

The Princess of Wales has been long interested in textiles and clothing production and was able to learn more about the manufacturing process.

While the firm is known for their cashmere blend socks, they also produce other woollen garments. Prince George wore one of their baby sweaters in 2014.
