Catherine receives well wishes from military following cancer announcement – Royal Central

Joining the chorus of well wishes for the Princess of Wales following her shocking cancer announcement last Friday are the military regiments she is involved in.

The Irish Guards shared a statement on their social media, writing that “The Irish Guards is thinking of our Regimental Colonel Her Royal Highness Princess Catherine of Wales at this time.

“We wish her the very best recovery, and all thoughts and prayers are with her and her family, as well as the wider Royal family.

“Quis Separabit.”

Catherine has presented shamrocks to the Irish Guards nearly every St. Patrick’s Day since she became a member of the Royal Family. She was represented this past year by Lady Ghika, the wife of the Irish Guards’ Regimental Lieutenant Colonel, Major General Sir Christopher Ghika.

Though she couldn’t be present, the Irish Guards gave three cheers for the Princess of Wales; and it later emerged that she had put down a £2,000 tab at the regimental bar at Aldershot for the soldiers to celebrate.

Catherine was named Colonel of the Irish Guards in December 2022; she replaced her husband, who had served in the role from 2011-2022.

The Welsh Guards, of which William is Colonel, also shared a message of support to Catherine, writing on their X account: “Sending our support to Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales as she bravely fights cancer. Our thoughts are with her and the Royal Family during this challenging time. Stay strong, you are not alone.”

The Parachute Regiment shared: “Wishing Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with the #Royalfamily.”

Catherine holds several military appointments from both the late Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles.

From Queen Elizabeth II, she received the roles of Honorary Air Commandant of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets and Lady Sponsor of HMS Glasgow.

From King Charles, she received the roles of Royal Honorary Air Commodore, RAF Coningsby; Commodore-in-Chief, Fleet Air Arm; Colonel of the Irish Guards; and Colonel-in-Chief of 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards.
