Belgian State Visit to The Netherlands, 1993

Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus of the Netherlands hosted King Baudouin and Queen Fabiola of Belgium on their State Visit to The Netherlands on this day in 1993, which was the last State Visit of King Baudouin’s Reign just a few months before his death. This was the first Belgian State Visit to The Netherlands since 1959, with most recent Belgian State Visit to the Netherlands in 2016.

Following an Official Welcome Ceremony, Queen Beatrix (wearing Queen Emma’s Diamond Tiara and the Dutch Diamond Stars) and Prince Claus hosted a State Banquet in honour of King Baudouin and Queen Fabiola (in the Wolfers Necklace Tiara) at the Noordeinde Palace in The Hague. Princess Margriet (wearing the Ears of Wheat Tiara) and Pieter van Vollenhoven were also present.

After a series of engagements the following day, King Baudouin and Queen Fabiola (wearing her Aquamarine Suite) hosted a Return Dinner of the Dutch Royal Family, which was also attended by Queen Juliana (in Queen Wilhelmina’s Diamond Trellis Necklace), Prince Friso, Prince Constantjin, Princess Margriet, and Pieter van Vollenhoven.
