A salute to The King from the Duke of Kent as the senior royals attend Trooping the Colour – Royal Central

The Duke of Kent was amongst the senior royals in attendance at Trooping the Colour on Saturday in Central London.

The annual event, which celebrates the monarch’s official birthday, also saw the traditional balcony appearance in the early afternoon.

As The King arrived back at the palace, some members of The Royal Family gathered on the balcony to greet the monarch.

Amongst them was the Duke of Kent who saluted The King as he passed under the balcony into the quadrangle.

Stood next to the 87-year-old Duke was Sir Tim Laurence alongside the Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duke & Duchess of Gloucester.

The Duke of Kent also played an important role at Horse Guards Parade where he sat alongside The Queen and the Princess of Wales to receive the salute.

Following the death of Prince Philip in 2019, it was the Duke of Kent who acted as Queen Elizabeth’s companion during ceremonial events such as Trooping The Colour.
