King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark are beginning a highly anticipated State Visit to France and they’ve got visits to some of the most iconic parts of Paris lined up including a trip to the newly reopened Notre Dame cathedral.
The Danish king and queen will be part of a sizeable delegation to France, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen, Minister of Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Minister of the Interior and Health Sophie Løhde, and Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard.
The royal couple will arrive at Paris-Orly Airport on March 31st 2025. After a welcome ceremony at Les Invalides, a former hospital that is now a complex of museums, archives, and monuments, they will officially be received at the Élysée Palace where they will meet French President Emmanuel Macron.
That evening, Macron and his wife, Birgitte , will host a gala dinner at the Élysée Palace.
On 1 April, King Frederik will meet French Prime Minister, François Bayrou, while Queen Mary will visit a preschool, Ecole Maternelle Dussoubs. Both will help open an Economic Forum. They will also host their own gala that evening to thank their hosts.
The third and final day will be another busy day. In addition to meeting with the Mayor of Paris, the couple will visit Notre-Dame Cathedral and the National Assembly.
The visit comes as European leaders are in concentrated political discussions following shifting US foreign policy and aid discussions.
