Queen Camilla and The Princess of Wales both chose outfits acknowledging their roles as Colonels for the first Trooping the Colour of The King’s reign.

The Queen was in a red coat dress inspired by the uniform of the Grenadier Guards, of which she is Colonel. Her Majesty’s outfit, designed by Fiona Clare Aldridge, featured gold buttons down the front as well as ‘The Grenade Fired Proper’ embroidered on the collar.

Queen Camilla’s hat, by Philip Treacy, was a beret style with full feather, inspired by the bearskins worn by the regiment.

The Queen became Colonel of the Grenadier Guards in December.

The Princess chose an emerald green dress with blue buttons for her first Trooping as Colonel of the Irish Guards. The blue is a nod to the colour of the feather worn by the guards on the side of their bearskin. The outfit was by designer Andrew Gn with the Princess choosing a wide brimmed green hat by Philip Treacy to go with it.

Both The Queen and the Princess of Wales wore regimental brooches for Treooping.

They watched the King’s Birthday Parade from a dais on Horse Guards, along with the Duke of Kent.

The Prince of Wales, the Princess Royal and the Duke of Edinburgh all rode behind King Charles during the ceremony while the Duchess of Edinburgh watched the parade from a balcony along with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The Royal Family later appeared together on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for a flypast.
